Laughter is the breath of the soul
Sometimes when even the most bitter of enemies share a laugh, it can tear down some of the walls between them and clear a path to friendship.
Lately, so many people would rather take offence to a casual, not necessarily well thought out remark or response. They's rather get angry and bitter, and such is the hardening of hearts all too common in our world today.
Sure, I suppose it's possible to go through life without laughter and joe, but what kind of life is that?
More than the medical and psychological reasons of why laughter is good for a person, think of the other reasons: if a person is able to laugh at their own mistakes and learn from them, they gain wisdom and self-esteem. Someone can be having the worst day of their life and a joke from a friend, laughter shared, can be like a shift of pure light in a darkened room, or a breath of fresh air in a polluted city.
Laughter unites people; puts them on the same level: a rich, educated person can still laugh at the same joke as a poor person who barely finished high school.
In humor, no one person is better than another. We can laugh at the same things and maybe gain a better understanding of each other.
So is laughter essential?
Well, form your own opinions, you will anyway.
All I can say is that it makes life a hell of a lot more interesting!
